If yes, then the HK is a downgrade, since that B&O would have been the top of the line $5k upgrade sound system. Compared to last gen the sound system definitely saw some upgrades (but that isn't surprising to see a feature getting better in the newer model), but of course BMW caters to the masses with this system.
They even have ambient lighting inside of them as well Yes,agree. Thing is not about the $$$. I just found an m5 for sale with carbon ceramic brakes,M exhaust ,lot of extra carbon fiber details and everything else. Except "Bowers and Wilkins" . Price of the car is good for me and mileage ,but no Bowers music.
Questions about e46 Harmon Kardon Speaker System. Hi guys, I'm new to the site and also new to the BMW community as I have just purchased a '00 BMW 328i sedan. My car came equipped with the Harmon Kardon speaker system but upon purchasing the car I noticed the 2 rear shelf subs are blown as are the 2 lower front door speakers.
The option code for this system in a VIN search is S688A. On some models such as the 1 and 2 Series, option code S674A 'Hi-Fi System Harman Kardon' may be installed. This system is very simlair to the normal Hi-Fi sytem but comes with more speakers and is not as powerful as the premium Harman Kardon system.

Car - E46 2004 convertible with Harman Kardon system My level as car mechanic - 4/10 I installed a new Infinity Kappa Component system in the front door 260W to find out that its not as easy as my previous project on Camry 1998 and it won't work as the amp only puts out 21W or something like that to that speaker.

I would say for $875 it's well worth it. Note that the price is actually more like $1500 since the HK system requires you to get BMW connect/bluetooth. Still a good deal, considering what you could get after market for $1500, but not quite as cheap as just the HK option alone would suggest.
