20 JTS engine oil confusion. Hmm, I may have given myself a āsituation.ā. Iāve only had the GT about 6 weeks and have had to top up the oil. Its got a 2.0JTS engine and what I didnāt realise is the handbook specifies 10w-60 oil. Without thinking I used the oil left over from my 1.8TS, 10w-40.

M32gearbox bearings. The 1.75 TBi and 2.2 JTS engines are paired with the infamous M32 gearbox in the Alfa Romeo Brera. A typical problem with this 6-speed transmission is bearing wear. In particular, the 6th gear bearing.. When this bearing starts wearing out, the gearbox becomes noisy when driving in 6th and 5th gear.
Anotherroute you could consider (and i would consider over a SC JTS), is find a 2.5 V6 156 as a donor, rip the engine (and perhaps gearbox) from that, rebuild it (fresh gaskets, belts, plugs all around), and swap that in. Far cheaper to find then a 3.2 lump, a decent jump up in power from a JTS, much nicer sound.
TheJTS in my 156 gives at least 32mpg with normal spirited driving but up to 40 on a run. Even on a track it only dropped to 24mpg. Great engine. Well, if you drove only in city trafic, it's a normal consumption. 13l/100km is about right for high trafic driving, which would mean that for 225km you used ~29l of fuel.
